NEWS
JUNE
2008:
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Matt Masters, Terrance Houle and others in:
DON COYOTE
Classic country singer and Calgary performance artist, Matt Masters,
has co-created a multimedia Western cabaret musical called Don Coyote.
Masters and his six piece western orchestra tell the tale of Don Coyote
and Calgary artist Terrance Houle's original video projections will
be part of a changing and dynamic backdrop. Don Coyote is a 21st-century
resident of Calgary who sees himself as an old time cowboy, roaming
the city while singing songs and righting wrongs. Don Coyote's story
is not a re-telling of Don Quixote but does draw inspiration and parallels
from it, examining reality through different perspectives. Themes of
illusion, honour and loyalty are examined in nine songs and stories
about Don Coyote, his sidekick Sancho and the Cowboy Code.
Directed by Vanessa Porteous. Supported by Glenbow Museum.
Supported and co-produced by Illingworth Kerr Gallery at the Alberta
College of Art + Design, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Calgary Arts
Development and The Sled Island Music Festival.

MARCH
2008:

"Matt
Masters has a remarkable voice. It soars over the open Canadian prairie
carried by the Chinook winds of his native Alberta. It wanders, like
a meandering river, softly curving around a bend and then rises up just
as the Rockies spring from the foothills. A powerful force with a clear
tone, when Matt Masters sings, the land listens."
The Matt Masters 30
Day Challenge...Are you ready?
Matt
Masters. Country and western singer. Storyteller and myth builder. A
true western gentleman for the 21st Century. Matt confirmed his commitment
